This forecasting system is distributed nationally, and is used to forecasting the raw material requirements necessary for production of Frito Lay products.

The system draws information from several sources and assists an individual at each plant to come up with a forecast of how much of each product is going to be required for a specific time frame.

The forecast from each plant is then sent to the Head Office in Mississauga where it is combined. The total product forecasts are then used to generate an estimate of how much raw material is going to be required based on the recipe that is used for each product. The system also generates an estimate of how much packaging material is going to be required.

Once the actual product usage is available it is imported into the system to allow the accuracy of the forecast generated at each plant to be monitored.
